The Department of State, Office of Visa Services, advises the public of a notable increase in fraudulent emails and letters sent to Diversity Visa (DV) program (Visa Lottery) applicants. The scammers behind these fraudulent emails and letters are posing as the U.S. government in an attempt to extract payment from DV applicants. Applicants are encouraged to review the rules and procedures for the DV program so that you know what to expect, when to expect it, and from whom.

Assuming that there are no grounds for denying your green card, such as a serious criminal record, here is how to calculate that. First, determine what a green card is worth to you. Then, subtract $1,500. That’s approximately the total cost of various fees you will pay the United States government to get a green card, if and when you win the lottery. Multiply the result by the probability of winning the lottery.

If you are from and live in a developed country like New Zealand that enjoys a lot of economic freedom, and scores high in most if not all social and economic indicators. And if you love the weather there, and your passion is in an economic activity that is available to you right there in your backyard, then a green card is not worth much.

But if, like me , you are from an under developed country, with too much corruption, little economic freedom, few economic opportunities, much lower standard of living, then a Green Card is easily worth between $100,000 and a million dollars. Sometimes more than a million dollars.

It was Adrian Lucas Ecoffet’s first time, and fortunately, last in applying for a diversity visa. He started filling out in what he described as a tedious process that took him 30 minutes to complete. It also chilled his nerves. Just a single silly mistake, and that could cause his ineligibility. Still, he pushed through. For him, he must really win that dream visa and live the life he always dreamt of in U.S.A. That 2% chance of winning still guarantees him 2%. Ever since he was young, he really dreams of living in the U.S.A. He even hung a flag of it in his room which until now he brought into his apartment.

A fact sheet released last April 7 by the White House Solar Summit revealed an amazing statistic that each day, in every four minutes , an American home or business goes solar. There has been a very noticeable increase in the usage of solar panels since 2008, when president Obama was elected. From 1.2 gigawatts in 2008 to 13 gigawatts in 2014, this amount of generated electricity could already power up 2.2 million American homes. Also, at the summit, the U.S. Department of Energy supports the solar boom by announcing a  $15 million program to help state, local and tribal governments in building solar panels. This could eventually put an end to the 44% not-so-environment-friendly power source, the coal and petroleum combined,  of the U.S.
